The tallest minaret in the world, Qutub Minar, was established by Qutub-Ud-Din-Aibak, founder of the Delhi Sultanate. The construction was taken over by his successor and son-in-law Shamsuddin Iltutmish in 1220, who completed a further three storeys. In 1369, the top storey was destroyed by a lightning strike and was replaced by Feroz Shah Tughlaq. He also added one more storey to the huge building.
